*A Folktale from Zambia*
There was a man with his dog hunting in a forest. After a time he didn’t find any beasts or animals to hunt, he sat under a tree wearily. Then he saw a creature like a snake with two mouths. He couldn’t hide his surprise and disapointment when seeing a creature like that. He cried out “Chiyovo” meaning “unfortunate”. The creature replied “then you must die”. The man died. After understanding the cause of the death of his master, the dog ran home to tell the story to his master’s wife. His master’s wife begged the dog to make her husband alive. The dog took a group of deaf and dumb people to follow him to meet the creature. After seeing the creature, remembering the dog’s instruction before, they didn’t show any wonders or surprises. Then the dog pretended to order them to prepare things for his master funeral. The creature was very surprised because he had never seen a dog to order human to do things. He cried out “Chiyovo” meaning “unfortunate”. Then the creature died and the master came back to life. **Author: Tuyet Huynh*
