*THE KING OF THE SNAKES*

*Once upon a time, the village named Kalungu was a sorrow village because there was a snake called Sesota which frequently came to the village to kill and eat its people. No one in the country dared to kill the snake, until there was a poor farmer told he could do that with the support of the King to give him a large water-pot and some blue beads and some brass and ivory bracelets and a ring which he put in the large pot. Then he came to meet the snake. When he met it, he sang very beautifully to tell the snake the king wanted to give it a gift. The snake wanted to see the gift so he got into the pot and coiled himself around and slept because the songs of the farmer was very beautiful and sleepy. Then the farmer lit a fire around the pot to kill the snake. The king gave the chief tittle to the farmer for killing the snake. Since that, the village Kalungu became a peaceful happy village.*
