*Once upon a time, there was a beautiful and well behaved girl named Phikul. Her mother passed away when she was very young. She lived with her step mother and her daughter named Mali. They were very cruel and treated Phikul very badly. They forced Phikul to work hard everyday to take care of them.*
*One day, when Phikul went to fetch water from a stream. She met an elderly woman who asked for some water. She gave her the water and told her that if she needed some more, she would go to fetch more water for her. The woman was touched by her kindness. She told her she was an angel and she granted her a gift that whenever Phikul felt sympathy for anyone or anything, the golden flowers known in Thai as Phikul would come out from her mouth.*
*When Phikul got home, her step mother was very angry. Phikul told her story and expressed the sympathy. The golden flowers came out from her mouth. The step mother was not angry anymore. Since that day, Phikul’s family lived very comfortably by the golden flowers Phikul created. However, the step mother was very greedy, she forced Phikul to create more and more the golden flowers until Phikul’s throat was hurt. She couldn’t say a word more. The step mother decided to send Mali to find the angel like Phikul did.*
*Instead of meeting an elderly and poor woman, Mail found a very beautiful woman who wore a very impressive dress under the shade of a big tree. She thought this woman couldn’t be the angel. She was jealous and treated the woman very badly with those ugly words. The woman was actually the angel. She was angry and told Mail that whenever she spoke a word, the worms would come out from her mouth. Mail came back and told her mother. The worms came out whenever she said something. The step mother was very angry. She beat Phikul and drove her out from home.*
*Meanwhile the crying Phikul wandered in the forest alone, she met a prince. He asked her why she was crying. She shared her story. The golden flowers came out from her mouth. The prince realized she was a very beautiful and kind-hearted girl. He brought her to his castle and got married with her.
*They lived happily ever after.*
