*Right and Wrong*
*There was a certain King who had two sons. One was cunning and unjust and one was just and good. When the father passed away, the unjust brother told the just brother to leave with three hundred pieces of gold and a horse as his inheritance.*
*One day, on the way the two brothers met each other. They bet with each other right or wrong which was better. They let the first person whom they met would decide that. The one who lost would give the other one hundred pieces of gold. They met a demon who changed himself into a monk. The demon said the wrong was better. The just brother lost. They continued three times more with the same bet. Three times they met the same demon who was in different appearances. The just brother lost two hundred pieces of gold and the horse. The just brother continued the last bet with his eyes that right was better than wrong. And he lost his eyes. Listening to the entreaty from the just brother, the unjust brother gave him some water in a vessel, led him out, and left him under the fir-tree by the spring.*
*In the evening, the vilas came to the spring and bathed. They told themselves that after they bathed in the spring, the water of the spring could heal those with lame, deaf, or blind and the princess who was ill of leprosy if she bathed in this spring in a day and a night. After they left, the just brother washed his eyes in the water and immediately received his sight. After that he helped the princess be healed. The King gave the half country to him and arranged the marriage between him and his daughter.*
*Knowing about the story of the just brother, the unjust brother did the same way. He took some water in a vessel, then went under the fir-tree and cut out his eyes with a knife. In the evening, the vilas came to the spring and wanted to find who heard their talk and healed the princess. They searched around the tree and found the unjust brother and then tore him into four pieces.*
