*Folk tales from Peru: The Stolen Smell*
*There was an owner of a bakery who was very mean and very jealous with a very kind and good-hearted neighbour. Different from the owner of the bakery, the neighbour had a lot of friends. Everyday, the owner baked very delicious cakes. The aroma of smells came to all corners of the area. When the neighbour smelled that aroma, he felt very happy and enjoyed the smell greatly. Realizing that, the owner of the bakery asked him to pay him for the smells. But the neighbour didn’t have much money so he refused. They came to the court. The judge told the neighbour to prepare 5 coins of gold and next day she would judge them in front of the people. Next day, She concluded that because the neighbour enjoyed the smells so it was fair to pay the owner of the baker. Then she asked the owner how he felt when he listened to the sound of the jingle of the golden coins in the hand of the neighbour. He told her he did like the sound. She concluded that he had to pay back five golden coins to the neighbour because he enjoyed the sound which the neighbour created with these coins. After all, the neighbour still had five coins and enjoyed the aroma of the delicious cakes everyday.*
