*Inspired by three stories of Finland.*
*Told by Jane*
*First story: Familiar Faces I: Mary, Mary, So Contrary!*
*There were a husband and a wife who always did the contrary to the husband’s words to be against him. The husband managed to say the contrary to what he wanted to live with her happily. The days passed, the wife was more and more against the husband. One day, when they had to cross a very dangerous bridge. Meanwhile the husband was crossing the bridge, he forgot about her habit and showed her the right way. She did against his guide without realizing the right thing in his words then fell into the river and was drowned.*
*Second story: Familiar Faces II: Jane, Jane Don't Complain!*
*There were a very lazy couple of husband and wife who loved complaining everything most of the time. They were very poor. One day, meanwhile the husband and the wife were complaining about why they were so poor. The King was around at that time and heard their story. He brought them to his castle and told them that he would keep them there as long as they wouldn’t lift the cover of a silver disk. The first day, they were treated very well with very delicious dishes and luxury clothes. Second day was the same. The third day they were still treated the same. However the wife couldn’t feel enough, she wanted to show her complaint about the food by lifting the cover of the silver disk. A mouse ran out of it. She yelled out. The King heard that and threw both of the husband and the wife out of his castle.*
*Third story: Familiar Faces III: Susan Walker, What a Talker!*
*There were a husband and a wife who could share with anybody about anything without realizing the consequences. The husband still loved her so much. One day, he found a treasury buried very long time in the forest which could make their lives become very comfortable until their old ages. Knowing his wife’s bad habit, he was afraid if she told everybody , it would attract the criminals around to hurt their family but he still wanted to share with her the good news. Next day, he caught a pike and a grouse. He went to the river and put the bird in the fishnet, then he put the fish in the snare in the woods. Then he came home to share with her his treasury. In several days, he tried to keep her away from sharing with everybody. When he realized she would not change, he took her to see the bird in the net and the fish in the snare. When they got home, they heard the dog barking, he pretended to tell her that their neighbors were quarreling. Next day, she told the neighbour about the treasury, the bird in the fishnet, the fish in the snare and quarrel of the neighbors. The neighbour laughed at her and shared her story with everybody. Everybody didn’t trust her story and laughed at her. The husband was quiet about that and the wife learned a lesson how to say things.*
