*A Fairy tale of Hans Christian Andersen from Denmark : The Loveliest Rose in the World*
*There lived once a Queen who loved roses so much. She had a great garden full of all kinds of beautiful roses in the world. One day, she was sick and laid in bed. The doctors declared that she was just cured by the loveliest Rose in the World. Everybody searched their gardens and everywhere to find the loveliest rose. However, no roses they found that could make the Queen feel better. They even searched in the poets to find the location of the rose. Again, they couldn’t find the rose.*
*Some time later, a happy mother brought her child to them and told them that the sweet child’s rosy cheeks were the most beautiful roses in the World. Again, The Queen was still sick. One woman told the loveliest roses were the cheeks of the Queen which were white same like the leaves of a blush-rose when she carried her sick child in her arms. Again, The Queen was still sick. A good old bishop told the loveliest rose in the world were the blushing cheeks same like white rose and red rose of a young maiden with all the purity and love of her young spirit. Again, The Queen was not better. Then there came into the room a child—the queen’s little son. The child cried and told his mom to listen to what he was going to read. He read from the book of Him who suffered death on the cross to save all men, even who are yet unborn. He read, “Greater love hath no man than this,” and as he read a roseate hue spread over the cheeks of the queen, and her eyes became so enlightened and clear, that she saw from the leaves of the book a lovely rose spring forth, a type of Him who shed His blood on the cross. “I see it,” she said. “He who beholds this, the loveliest rose on earth, shall never die.”*
